“If we push forward with digital reform of government, and we are going to do that, we can make massive savings, £45bn in efficiency. And AI is a golden opportunity for efficiency."

These are the words of UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer as he unveiled the UK Government’s ambitious plans for AI. The goal? To transform the civil service by increasing efficiency and modernising public services.

In this episode, I break down the key initiatives:

  • AI and tech teams will be sent into every government department to improve public services.
  • 2,000 tech apprentices will be recruited by 2030 through a new programme called TechTrack.
  • One in 10 civil servants is expected to work in tech and digital roles within five years.
